Problem with CD-RW Media

Hi, i am having trouble with cd-rw media, i have a hp laptop that has a cd-rw drive, and for a year now, my cd-rw was working fine, but recently all of mine cd-rw cd that was formated by directcd all gone bad, even the new one have gone bad after just after two or three times of use.  The problem with mine cd-rw cd is that it freeze the computer, and it won't load.  I was wondering any easy way that could resolve this problem, or could this cause by the cd-rw drive, that my cd-rw drive has gone bad?  Thank you for anyone who helps.

It is very possible that the CDRW drive has gone bad.  What you may want to try to do is take the CDRW and try it in another machine or another burner.

Do you have any CDRW's with Good Data on it that you may be able to test to see if it works on another machine? or even one that was just burned that may not work on the laptop?

First, close Explorer and disable Autoplay for the CD-RW drive. Then use a Nero or Easy CD Creator to full format the CD-RW. Don't use DirectCD or any other packet-writing software.

besides the problem with the cd-rw, i also have trouble with burning regular cd, ever since my cd-rw cd have gone bad, my cd burner 80% of time giving me buffer underrun error everytime i try to burn regular cd, even though i use the option "test and record" everytime after testing and it begin writing, buffer underrun error occur just as it begin to write.  I talk to the service people for my laptop, and they told me this is software issue, could this be a software issue?  Also, they told me they won't replace it, if i don't format my hard drive first, is there a way to tell that the hardware is bad, beside formating the hard drive to eliminate the software problem?
Soweird, have you tried other software to format the blanks?  What other issues are you having?  There are several other burning software available to try.

As suggested Nero is one of them.
Yes, I suggest you perform some tests like Wakeup suggests. But I'd advise you to uninstall DirectCD first, because it sounds like that's the problem.

i tried to install other burning software such as nero, however because of the burner come with the laptop is crappy, the nero doesn't support it, it seems the only burning software that it support is the easycreator.  Also i have tried to update and uninstall easy creator and directcd, however it didn't work.  The problem get worse when i update the easy creator up to 5.3, i can't even put in cd into my cd burner, it crash my system, give me error message such as system halted, or window protection error.  I don't whether know that's hardware or software problems.
soweird..have you tried cleaning the lens on your burner..a qtip and some alcohol should do the trick!!
Is the laptop a DELL? Is the CDRW a sony? There's a firmware revision for a known bug that happens on them, causing them to corrupt disks after certain key windows updates are performed.

I have actually bought a cd len cleaner, but it still didn't work.  So i actually the format the computer restore to the original state, but after i burn the inital first cd, the second cd still give me the following error:
T0100: I/O error (03/0C/00) - Write error
T0100: I/O error (06/C5/00) - Write error - buffer underrun occurred
T7127: TrackWriter error - Flush failed
T7118: TrackWriter error - Command retry failed
D0100: I/O error (05/24/00) - Command error - invalid field in CDB
So i format the computer for the second time, like it before, i can burn the cd but the 2nd cd give the same error.  This is very strange, anyone got a clue this is hardware or software issue?  I haven't got a clue, and the service people are refusing to replace cd burner because they said it's hardware.  Any help would be much appreciated
they are refusing to replace the burner because they say it's hardware?  If it is a hardware issue wont they replace it?  It definitely sounds like a hardware issue...Most places wont take it back or fix it for free if it is a software issue.

When you say you formatted the computer...what do you mean?  you reinstalled windows from scratch?  or you just formatted your CDRW media?  I am confused.

Anyway give us some help here on that and we'll try our best to help you as much as possible

actually i mistyped it, the service said it's software issue, and they won't service it.  When i say formated the computer i mean i use the recovery cd given by hp which restore my laptop hp n5470 to original condition, which means reinstall windows.  And the service people just refuse to even take in for service, they said buffer underrun is a software issue, and i can't send it in for service.  They weren't much of a help, and they told me they never heard problem like this, can burn first the cd and can't burn the second one.  I am baffle by this problem, also i didn't have any software install after format for the second time, only roxio plat 5.02 was install, still the same problem occur.
I recently had a buffer underun error, but i am using roxi 5... platinum..there was a update fix available for download on the roxio website.  are you using the track-at-once or the other burn method?  On mine if i reboot after each cd the burner works ok, but i can only do one cd between reboots. i am using win98 and ez cd creator 5.?? platinum.
what version of windows are you using???
