Microphone doesn´t work wnymorw

watts_hp used Ask the Experts™
Up to recently my microphone was working very fine, but no anymore. Has tried with another one with the same result:
I can heard my voice through the speakers, but it can not be recorded with the window 98´s recorder utility and  my pals in the internet can not hear me.
Thanks and best regards

When you record, is there an analyzer that tells you whether or not it is even reading your voice.  It looks sort of like a radio wave and will spike and dip as you talk into the microphone.  If there is an analyzer and it does not spike when you talk, right click on the speaker in the bottom right hand corner of the microphone.  Look for the microphone channel and make sure it is not checked in the mute box.  If there is no microphone channel, go to options, properties and select microphone check box. Make sure it is not muted after you do this.

If this doesn't work, reinstall your sound card driver
