It sounds like you are confusing Windows Explorer with Internet Explorer. Do a Start > Run > sfc, and use system file checker to check your system files. Probably Windows explorer or an associated file is corrupted.

You may have registry problems, programs not properly installed or incompatible that are creating memory conflicts and so on.  I'd sure start by going to WindowsUpdate and applying the recommended patches and fixes for your Operating System as well as for IE.  the current version of IE is 6.0 with Service Pack 1; which fixed many significant problems that your version of IE had.  I'd also scan my system for virus/worm/trojan activity with an updated Viruscan program and agree also with tanjnt's comment; the sfc process may help find corruptions you can also then use to restore problems found.

As regards Netscape, what version do you have?  Current version is 7.0.

I personally ALWAYS choose to upgrade OS and Browsers to apply fixes, enhancements and security patches and recommend that highly rather than running back-levels which are prone to problems and bugs.

Is the error "Iexplore caused  ", or is the error "explorer cause  "?

Boot to safe mode.
If a problem occurs in safe mode, it is caused by:
corrupt OS, corrupt registry, hardware, virus.

When did the problem begin?  How soon, after re-installing windows did the problem begin?  Was this a fresh install [i.e., format, then install], or did you install windows on top of itself?

Hit control-alt-delete adnd see if you see a file called findfast, if so highlight it and end task. If it was there report back and I will advise on how to remove it permanently. Dave
If you didn't find that then go to start/run and type msconfig and take the checkmarks out of all under startup, and then reboot, you may have a virus.
If this works then start adding back until you find the culprit.
