DHCP and IP ranges

I have a win2k advance server, and before starting , I need to ask this question. I have my dhcp server connected to a network of 255.255.255.0 , my question is that , this network is just one subnet, If I need to setup my dhcp server to use an ip range lets say from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.20 , can I use that range regardless that I don't have a subnet boundries, or I have to have my own subnet that starts with a network number and broadcast number.

Thanks in advance,

Agree with stevenlewis. Within the scope, all you are doing is setting up the pool of ip addresses that will be handed out. They can be any range or series of ranges within the subnet you are using. Other parts of the scope hand out the subnet mask, gateway, wins servers, dns servers, etc.

agreeing with other expert comments above will work provided u dhcp server is in same network( i guess 192.168.1.1 is for the server static ip)

No comment has been added lately, so it's time to clean up this TA.
