Basic or Dynamic Drive in NTFS for WINXP PRO

Other than the ability to span one partition into multiple physical drives, does anyone know the advantages of the Dynamic storage system as compared to the Basic one? For example, performance increase, or stability increase.

The advantages, and really the only purpose, of dynamic disks is to use spanning and the other software RAID features.

Otherwise, do not use it.  As a drawback, there is no accessing a dynamic disk from an emergency DOS boot floppy disk, so it actually has a drawback in that regard.  Note that you can use a DOS boot floppy disk to access NTFS in read-only mode with a special program.
