thanks for your help

if my server completely corrupted, after installing  a 2k server without installing active directory ,Can i restore
this backup and use active directory?
A full file system and system state backup would be recomended.

You could also have another Active Directory domain controller on the system, which would have the advantage of having no downtime if one of the servers goes wrong. Just remember to have both set as Global Catalog Servers.
