help please i wanna uninstall windows 95 so that i can install windows 98

PLease Help!!! I am going crazy trying to uninstall or delete Win 95 so that I can download a full version of Win 98. I have had this full version installed on my puter but it wouldn't allow me to again after i reformatted my hard drive : ( i kept on getting "your computer already has an operating system installed, which cannot be upgraded by this version of setup. You need to obtain the Windows 98 upgrade"   well i did !!! I went out and spent over 100 bucks again!! I bought Windows 98 SE which  I am told that that is the upgrade and i'm getting the same message!! Thankyou in advance

Yes, Slink9 is correct.  A full OEM version can often be used to upgrade if you rename the file Win.com in the Windows folder to something like Win.bak or Win.old.  You might also need to rename winver.exe to winver.bak or winver.old.  And once the install starts taking place, pay attention to the folder it wants to install Win98 in.  It will probably want to do it to Windows.000 and you need to change that to your regular Windows folder before you continue.

That would be why I posted the link.  Under W there are about five Step By Step guides for installing 98.

I answered that one.
I think slink9 and I should split the points.  I gave valuable extra info about possibly having to rename winver.exe and about changing the Windows.000 folder to Windows.  Slink9's link has a lot of useful pages, but none that I could find that specifically addressed this type of install: using a full Win98 CD instead of an upgrade CD to upgrade Win95 to Win98. If slink9 can point out to me a page where this process is addressed, then I would say definitely award fully to him...
