Here are a couple of diagnostics and benchmarking utilities you can try.  They should have demo versions available:

If you don't feel like installing software, You may be able to check in bios on the first screen upon entering.  You can watch at startup as well and it may list the speed.  If you have windows 2000 you can check under computer management (right click my computer and choose "manage," choose "system information," and then "system summery."

I take it that was directed toward me.  Then try the first two things I said, the bios and just watching at startup, and scratch the 2000 part.

thanks reduakm that was my first plan but i dont have anytime to Restart my server , Restrating the server without any schedule is big deal here in our company.

Yes I just realised it said that, and I know what you mean - only once a month where I work.  I would say try one of wakeup's utilities - but try them on another pc first - as they may ask you to restart.

good luck

WCPUID always worked for me. No need to restart or even install. Detects multiple CPU's and gives you not only the speed but a lot of details chipset/chache info.

Just hit this link:
http://www.pc.ibm.com/support?lang=en_US&doctype=&subtype=All&page=brand&up=unknownuser&menu=machineType&brand=IBM+PC+Server&family=IBM+PC+Server%7CNetfinity+5000&machineType=IBM+PC+Server%7CNetfinity+5000%7C8659
And fill in the model number, which is on the sticker on the back of the case.  Unless someone has gone out of the way to upgrade the processors after the machine was originally purchased, this link will give you the specs including CPU type and speed.

Hmmm....well it may be a good answer but it is not correct according to your question...but that is ok...Your question asked: "how can i know the speed of my processor without restarting."

His answer is incorrect because you would have to restart in order to get that information.  if your question was phrased differently then I would have told you the same thing.

Wakeup - I will post a question and give you half of he points.

Mike

Thanks all.
there is another option to know what is the speed of your processor.
Go to Start -> Run -> dxdiag (is an utility of the DirectX) it will let you know lot of information including the speed of your processor.

Luis

wakeup,
i never try your answer because when i visited the site i need to register and the site told me that thet will send me a conformation letter to activate my membership but util now they have no email about it..

reduakm,
i think there is no need to divide the point that i given to you i never try wakeup utilities, ("time consuming") and beside until now no confirmation letter from the said site.

lola,
thanks for your answer i will try it some other time..

thanks to all,

redukam, it's ok i dont need the points...I was just saying that the answer really wasnt "correct" according to the question asked.

Love,

sorry you had difficulties.  I went to the following website as stated above:

http://www.freshdevices.com/freshdiag.html

Entered my first name, and my email address.  And it let me download on the spot...took me no more than 1 minute.  Not even that on Cable Internet.  It was a 1mb download.  I did not have to wait for an email, and I was able to install it and not restart, and was able to have it tell me what my processor was and what speed it was running at.

In no more than 2 minutes.  (shorter than it takes to probably reboot your Operating system.)

Now I just went to:
http://www.sisoftware.co.uk/
Went to the downloads, it did not ask me for any information....I selected to download the Sisoftware Sandra 2003 standard edition.  Had it downloaded in less than 2 minutes (5mb download at 200kbs)
Installed in less than 1 minute.  Without having to restart, it came up and gave me my processor and my Processor Speed.

So either someone didnt try to download it...or something else happened...I have tried these sites myself...but hey I aint calling anyone a liar...I just know it worked..and in hardly any time at all...

Was there some reason why the IBM link to the model number didn't work?
