Hello,

Why is the ALT property of the IMG tag not working in the latest browsers...?

Only Net4.79 works fine.

Here is the code...

<table BORDER=0 CELLSPACING=2 CELLPADDING=2 WIDTH=90%><tr ALIGN=CENTER><td VALIGN=TOP><br><br><img SRC='/images/common/christ.jpg' BORDER='0' ALT='Christophe bjuder p&aring; kaffe!'><br><br><img SRC='/images/common/signature.gif' BORDER='0'><br><br><a HREF=mailto:christophe@europasprak.com><b>Christophe Luciani</b></a><br><b>VD, EuropaSpr&aring;k AB</b></td><td VALIGN=TOP><img SRC='/images/common/map.gif' BORDER='0' ALT='Vi ligger mitt i stan!'><br><br><div CLASS='siteAddress'>EuropaSpr&aring;k<br><br>Jakobsgatan 16<br>103 21 Stockholm<br>Sverige</div></td></tr></table>

The text in the ALT property is not displayed.

The alt text should not be displayed unless the image can not be displayed - alt stands for ALTERNATIVE not for additional. If you want a tooltip then use the title attribute instead.

<img src="file.png" title="This is rendered by most modern graphical browsers as a tooltip">

http://www.htmlhelp.com/feature/art3.htm is a fairly useful read on the correct use of the alt attribute.
