Hi,

We are developing a web based application in java [ jdk 1.3 ]... This application runs only on the machines which are not behind firewall, having JVM / MicroSoft VM fully enabled...

Is there any way to check which OS the client machine is running on??? is JVM / MS VM enabled??? is it behind any firewall???

Thanx in anticipation.

you can check also the system properties:
java.vm.version
java.vm.vendor

Don't think you can find wheter you are behind a firewall. May be you can check whether the
http.proxyHost
system property is not null.

Why do you need to detect wheter the applet is running behind a firewall? May be you can simply try to establish a direct socket connection to your server.
