Mouse issues

We are using Lotus Notes R5.  A user with a Logitech mouse with scroll wheel from Compaq is having trouble with the scroll wheel while viewing the inbox plane - it will not scroll.  It works in all MS applications, Notes with Internet Explorer, in an opened email message, and in the folder list - just not in inbox plane.

I have uninstalled, downloaded, and reinstalled several times the latest version of MouseWare - no success!  Any suggestions?

While scrolling the wheel, was the view pane selected using a left click ?

for a while I used a very cool application from Plannet Crafters that took care of this, but they seem to have dissapeared.

Now in D6 with XP/Pro I have no trouble in this space at all, and no longer need that program.
Not an answer for your question but I use a Kensington scroll mouse (cheap) and I have never had any problems... I can scroll in the inbox too.

Arunkumar ... yes we've tried left clicking and scrolling ... we've tried right clicking and scrolling ... we've tried just about everything short of beating the computer ...
Ahhh... perhaps you should try beating the computer then.
First the screen went black, then there was this funny smell. Kind of like melted plastics.
No scrolling yet!

Now what?

;-))
Good now buy a new computer and a Kensington mouse!

Okay, I tried beating the computer into submission ... but it still refuses to scroll in Notes inbox.  Before I buy a new computer and a Kensington mouse, any other ideas?

man, road, talk about beating a dead horse! lol
Beating a dead horse ? LOL that was a good one made me laugh !  Drew! you are already in my top smile makers list.

Ofcourse Sno tops!
No Arun I don't want any points since roadams still doesn't have an answer to his problem... Andrew, Arun is from India so he still has not learnt all of our wierd expressions like 'beating a dead horse' so it should be easy to make him smile.  I remember the first time I said 'holy cow' and our other Indian friend (Heman) 'had a cow' because there is nothing holy about a cow.
Holy ****! No kidding!?
Remember those discussions too... All I do is picturize the whole scenario and i will smile laugh based on the intensity of the scene.

For example beating a dead horse... MAN.. i can laugh over it again and again.
ha ha ha - I guess this is still open. I use Note v5.  I can't use my dell scolling mouse to scroll my inbox.  will not work but will work in all my other apps!

Haven't been able to test it yet, but (only a few days ago)my LN administrator gave me MS Intellipoint 4.01 drivers that are supposed to fix the problem....
Waiting for help/rights to get those installed. Need an other admin's help for that before I can test it.
You may be able to get things done faster, while I wait some more....  ;-(
so here's the real deal.

In win95/win98/winME/winNT you have to have a driver that spots the scroll bar and intercedes on your behalf, allowing the scroll to work.  Its like an old dos TSR program (anyone else remember sidekick!?!)

In win2k/winXP this shouldn't be necessary, its built in.

If you have a MICROSOFT scroll mouse (true blue) than it should have come with that driver, and it can be installed.

If you do not,  you can use a 3rd party product.  I had, for a long time, a product from a shareware group called "Plannet Crafters" that did the job perfectly.  I registered the program, too -- unfortunately, they don't seem to be around any more.

Sorry this was open so long ... thought i closed it ... guess not.  I ended up throwing out the logitech mouse and buying a Microsoft Intellipoint mouse ... seems to work just fine.

It's not what i wanted to hear - that i needed to buy another mouse, but in the long run it did solve my problem.
