command for vlan passthrough cisco 2924xl

edongskiu used Ask the Experts™

I am in need of setting up a a new vlan that uses MAC(Media Access control). I am able to add the new vlan. I have a 2 VTP Server and 5 VTP client(all cisco 2924xl). My other vlan is working fine, all trunks are working fine. I made a test of connecting another switch to my existing switch and place a laptop with just ip, subnet and gateway. Also I created another port in my original cisco 2924xl that access the new vlan and place another laptop with ip,subnet and same gateway(above). I am able to ping each other's ip address. Then I configured another exsting switch from another room and use the command: config term, int fa0/16, switch access vlan 9. When I use sh vlan it displayed that vlan 9 is using port 16. I connected another laptop just to test but I couldn't ping any other IP that I have installed. I'll try later using IPX if it is possible. What am I missing in my config?

Did you configure a trunk port on the switch in addition to the VLAN 9 port?

No, I dont', our trunking I think is like for all(I did not configure our trunk) i look at the setup and the one written is:
             interface Fastethernet1/1
             description ***Trunk to Hub ..***
             switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
             switchport mode trunk
can i insert: switchport access vlan in the trunking command?

or can i trunk my two vtp server so all other switch can use vlan9?

any advice on on-line tutorial for vlan or cisco?
