try looking for the startup.ini file and removing the ones that you don't want from there. After unchecking them, they are not started when win boots, but they are still read into the configuration.

As always, be sure to create a backup of your original startup.ini just in case.

hope that helps

Remove a startup application from the MSCONFIG startup tab:
If you're trying to remove a program and can not find it in the StartUp folder (usually C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp), then it may be launching from one of the registry keys below. To remove it, delete the value associated with the program you want to remove.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices]

Commented:
The keys listed can be accessed using regedit.
Commented:
Go to START, then RUN, type REGEDIT and hit OK, now expand to the keys listed above.
If you already have then disabled then they will be under the keys:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run-]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce-]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices-]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesOnce-]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run-]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce-]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices-]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesOnce-]

If that doesn't remove them all then look at the other places listed above
