has anybody tried the Intel Math Kernel Library? DOes it speed up calculations in Mathematical programs such as MATLAB?

Hmmm...looking at Intel's description, I think that the program is geared towards developers who are writing new programs that need high-performance math libraries.  I don't suspect you can integrate the program's libraries into MATLAB or Mathematica (however the vendors of these programs might be able to do this, or they may already be installed).  I would contact your software vendor to ask them.  Wolfram Research (Mathematica): http://www.wolfram.com/company/contact.html
