safe mode problem

My boss left on vacation after he installed Norton Anti-virus on an off-site machine.  At first, the monitor burnt out so they ordered another one.  The next day, the computer went into safe mode.  I think that 1) Norton anti-virus caused a problem (I've told the employee to uninstall Norton) but that didn't work.  2) maybe the video card is bad and therefore that's why it's going into safe mode.  The monitor that the employee borrowed from another employee, when they returned that monitor to the original computer, now that monitor powers up for 2 seconds and shuts down or I guess goes into sleep mode immediately.

Only problem is because my boss is gone on vacation, I can't go up there to that location and do this work and they are not able to do the work.  So I'll have to wait til he gets back to fix this problem, but thanks a bunch.
