Missing Memory

Although I have 512 Mb. of memory installed in my XP computer, "My Computer" Properties shows only 480 Mb., (exactly 32 Mb. less). I ran Simter's Doc Mem utility and it only recognizes 480 Mb. which tested OK.  Does this mean one of the chips on the memory card has failed?

Do you have onboard video or a add on video card ?

If the video is part of the motherboard that is where your memory is being used

I forget to mention that.  I do have an integrated video card (Nvidia GE Force 2) but I didn't think it would use up that much.  Thanks for the response.

You may have an option to tell how much memory to use in the bios. If you dont dont play games you could lower the amount of ram used.
