cant send emails to spain

- The mail gets out of our system without problems, but it never reaches its goal. We get non delivery reports:

Reporting-MTA: dns;ourserver.org
Final-Recipient: rfc822;webmaster@upm.es
Action: delayed
Status: 4.4.7
Will-Retry-Until: Mon, 2 Dec 2002 11:02:00 +0100

The mail is "sent" from Denmark to Spain. I wonder if it has anything to do with the root DNS records in exchange ?

This message indicated that the remote server is not reachable. Can you telnet to port 25 of the destination server from the receiving server? Also, try to ping the destination server by DNS name and IP address.

I have tried to ping it and I got 4 answers the first time and one timeout the second time. I have also tried nslookup which was ok - even though I couldnt remember how to make nslookup show the mx record.

I is a spanish university www.upm.es that I try to send mail to, and the person there have told that his mailsystem is running.

Are you able to telnet to port 25 of their mail server from your mail server?

To make nslookup show mx records, type "set type=mx"
That the mailserver in spain wasnt registred at the DNS server in spain - they had a problem with their ISP.
