I need to create a web service client using JDK 1.2.2 on Solaris. I have been searching the web, but it seems that all of the APIs out there needs JDK 1.3 or above. Unfortunately upgrading is not an option in this project.

Which API would be the easiest to use in this situation? And remember I only need to create the client, not the web service itself.

What does the client have to do?

The client invokes different methods on a web service that all return an array of name-value pairs. So, it is quite simple.

Well you'd have to study the protocol this service uses and implement it on your client.

May be you can use a SOAP client - http://xml.apache.org/soap/index.html

May be, but it is quite low level. What I hoped to find was a utility that generated Java classes form WSDL that worked on version 1.2.
