Driver for NeoMagic MagicMedia 256AV

Hi all,

I've got a Dell Latitude LS H400ST notebook with integrated NeoMagic MagicMedia 256AV videocard.

A great little notebook, but the screen resolution is just 800x600.
I know that the NeoMagic videocard can run higher resolutions, like 1024x768. The problem now is that if I set the resolution to 1024x768 the screen just scrolls.

I've had the same problem with an old Acer laptop with the same videocard. I downloaded a driver from Acer's site and the videocard displayed everything in 1024x768 without the scrolling.

My question:
Is there a driver available for this notebook as well?

Some system info:
Dell latitude LS H400ST
Bios version A08
400MHz/128MB

Running Windows 2000 Pro/SP2, but thinking of switching to XP Pro.

Thanks!

D'Mzzl!

Too bad....still the same.
Any other suggestions ?

Both the screen and the video adapter have to support 1024x768. It may be that your screen can not support the higher resolution. In the device manager what is it showing as your monitor?

The laptop you have has a 12" LCD display.  I think you'll find that this old junker does NOT support 1024x768 EXCEPT with a "windowed" view or an EXTERNAL display.

Yep, I know...
But that was also said about the Acer! And still it worked fine at 1024x768.....

I am still hoping for a small miracle ! :-)

(but I think you're both right...)

Hi Ian,
Thanks, but it won't work either.

I think it should be possible: the W2K-startup bitmap is 800x600 pixels.
When I set the Video mode in the BIOS to standard the bitmap is displayed smaller than the screensize...
That would mean that the maximum resolution is 1024x768.

Still looking...
