How do I check to make sure Telnet is installed, and if not installed, how do I go about installing it?
Thanks.

It depends on which Linux your are running. For RedHat or Mandrake you could do 'rpm -qa | grep telnet'. If both the client and server packages were installed you'd see something like:

wilowisp> rpm -qa | grep telnet
telnet-server-0.17-23
telnet-0.17-23

If you needed to install the telnet-server package you'd do so by adding it from your distribution CD's (e.g., 'rpm -i /path-to/telnet-server-???.rpm'). Then to make the telnet service availble an adjustment to /etc/xinetd.d/telnet is necessary. And you may need to open the telnet port if you have a local firewall running.
