Paging File size for Win2K Server?

Hi all,

Whats the recommended sizes for a paging file on Win2k Server?  I've got 786 MB's of ram and my paging file is on a seperate partition thats 2.5 gigs in size. (last one on the disk)

Its currently 384 min & 768 max.  (total use is 563)

Reason I ask is that I've got a few warnings that I was low on virtual memory and a resizing was underway.

Thanks

Doug

If "Its currently 384 min & 768 max." and it has grown to 2.5GB's then it seems you need to resize the max. MS recommends RAM * 1.5 which in this case would be 1.2GB's.

You may have to experiment a little with this since it did grow to 2.5GB's. I don't think you need to max it at 2.5 but then again you may. Adding more RAM would be preferable though.
Commented:
Microsoft recommends the minimum for NT4 at between 11 and 13mb more than the installed RAM for the minimum and the next increment for the maximum.

Win2000 however it recommends 1 and a half times for the minimum and not more 2 and a half times for the max...

Hopes this helps...

Hi Guys,

I agree with CrazyOne who Judging by his rating has a lot of experience to go on.

I do think though that Crazyone misinterpreted the question in as much as the Partition with the paging file is 2.5Gb not the paging file itself.

Just an observation. Follow the Crazyone's advise and adjust your max to 1.2GB this should suffice.
