ftp disconnects after logging into my network

Hi I have a adsl service shared by 4 computers.
One of the computer is acting as a ftp server, but when users logged into my ftp server they are immediately disconnected.

My adsl modem is connect to my linksys router/switch.  I enable port forwarding for 20-30 to a static IP my ftp server is running.  The ftp server is bullet proof ftp server.

What could be the problem?

Thanks

Are the 'users' local to the LAN or from outside?

the users are external to my network.
My guess is that your ADSL provider restricts this.  How are you handling dns?  I assume you can ftp from within the LAN OK.

If i am using only the adls modem is works but when the router/switch is connected is screws everything up.  So i think i can rule out the provider.  What other reasons can there be?

Well if you can use FTP when the router isn't there, and you can't use it when it is, then its the firewall in the router.

Do you have the proper port forwarded to the right machine.  I think its Port 21?

Harry
i forwarded 20-30 but still problem.  What can drop a connection after the user logged into the ftp server?  There is no firewall on the router or the PC
Aren't you using a Linksys router??

HW
yes.  but i didn't not download the firewall.  So you think the firewall might be the problem?
What is the model number of the Linksys you are using.

HW
BEFSR41 is the linksys 4 port dsl router/switch.  There is an option for downloading of zonealarm but i didn't not.
Ok, I use a Linksys.  What is your Firmware Version?
1.42.7.
You should only need tcp ports 20 and 21 for ftp. I reckon it's probably a config problem within the FTP software.

Try something else, I use MeteorFTP:

I got fed up with various ftp servers I tried and settled with this one. I have a similar setup to you (NAT on router, forwarding 20&21)

Good luck
