IE Locks up when a new IE window opens

Hope this is the correct DG for this question.

I recently have begun experiencing some problems with IE6 w/SP1.  Whenever a new window (either IE or some form of an IE popup) gets opened, IE locks up and I must terminate the task thru task manager.

OS is W2K w/service pack 3.

I've tried "uninstalling" and reinstalling with no improvement.

I've tried running regsrv32 on several different DLL's with no improvement.

I've tried to "repair" IE, and get two errors indicating an error....

An error occurred calling "DllRegisterServer" in C:\WINNT\System32\dxtmsft.dll". (HRESULT = 8002801C)
    and
An error occurred calling "DllRegisterServer" in C:\WINNT\System32\actxprxy.dll". (HRESULT = 80070005)

Any suggestions on how to get the lockup problem resolved?

TIA-
JP

Goto
http://dll.yaroslavl.ru/index.php3?in_char=D
and download your bad dlls and put them in the folder specified then restart and see if it crashes.  If so then try to repair.  I checked and your DLL's are there.

Which version of the dll should I use if there are mutiples?

Both DLL's in question have two versions on the site referenced.
For dxtmsft.dll download the first one and if that doesn't fix it the second one should.  Do it for both of them.  It won't hurt the computer to get the wrong version of the dll so don't be afraid to try. :)

Tried both versions.  When I run EI repair, it tells me that the versions of these dlls are too old.

My OS is W2K Pro and it's looking for versions for the dlls in the 6.x range.  The versions for these are in the 5.x range

Any other possible suggestions?
Oh try updating your service packs then I ran into some problems with Win2k when i didn't update the Service packs right away.
Or try Updating your regular updates
Ok this may sound wierd but try reinstalling Direct X 8.1 I think that is one of your problems because dxtmsft.dll is a direct X dll and has been know to have issues with internet explorer
For the other one goto Start Run type
"regsvr32 actxprxy.dll"
I could always give you my dlls i got win2k pro with all updates i could post them on a site if you like
