How to know if a combobox is already "dropped"

I use the keydown method, looking for the vbkeydown keycode, to dropdown a combobox. But that changes the value selected on the drop-list. If i put keycode=0, then i'm no more able to choose the combo items with the down arrow... so i need to know if the combobox is already opened or not.
I've found a sample on the MSDN but it uses the combobox hWnd, and access don't show this property....
