AUTOCHK.EXE COULD NOT FOUND!

hi..

i got some problem using WINXP>. ok here is what happen..

ok.. i was using my computer which have WINXP PRO.. and then i leave my house and shut down my computer.. but when i got back. and turn my computer on.. i got some error....

Error:

UNMOUNTABLE__ BOOT VOLUME

Technical Information:
Stop: 0x000000ED (0x8128E470,0x00000032,0x00000000,0x00000000)

i have look for anything i can do on the WEB.. i went to Microsoft and they said i got a corrupted drive..

so i did what the tutorial said...

i insert the winxp pro startup disk..

then i went to Recovery Console

i type in "chkdsk /r "

the computer give me:

AUTODSK.EXE could not be located in the startup directory

Type in the full path (including drive letter ) for the location of AUTOCHK.EXE

AUTODSK.EXE cannot be found in the specified location

.................

Also i have try the fixboot command..

but they say my boot sector is corrupted.. so then they make a new one..

but when it done..

i type exit to restart

it still give me the exact same error..

blue screen..

It is actually looking for AUTOCHK.EXE. If you booted to your XP CD it should be in the i386 folder. Try and to type in the path

TheDriveLetter:\i386\

and see if that helps.

hi.. apparently.. i have lost the winxp disk..

i lend it to a friend of mine.. and he lost it..

just wondering if Microsoft will replace it..

is there any other thing i can do??

like download the file AUTOCHK.EXE??

Unlikely but you could contact them and see what they say.

That file may be on one of these disks.

oh... that the one i downloaded..

ok.. i downloaded the file.. and it is 4.19MB..

so when i extract it.. they said i need 6 blank floppy.. i did.. and i insert in my other computer WinXP Pro..

so there are total of 6 floppy disk..

when i insert the 6th one..

i type r and they bring me to Recover Consoles

this is where i got problem..

can't find AUTOCHK.EXE

Ok see it you can tell it to look for it in the C:\Windows\System32\ folder

You have XP installed correct? When the error pops up it asks you to supply a path to the autochk.exe so this file is also in the C:\Windows\System32\ folder on the hard drive. So type in the path when you get this error and see if the chcdsk will run.

hey thanx a lot.. but i still can't fix the problem..

the second hexidecimal in my error end with 32.. so it mean that i have a corrupted filez/drive!!

please help if you can!!

Ok lets double check the drive try using the free diagnostic utility from the vendor of your disk to check for problems with the disk.

ok here is what to do when it said

AUTOCHK.EXE is not found!

Just go to any computer that have WinXP Pro or Home Edition.. and go to "Program > Search"Then search for AUTOCHK.EXE then right click. Sent to "My Document". Then you guyz/gal need go to "My Document" and sent that file AUTOCHK.EXE to Floppy Disk... Then Woola... You Got It..

it will said something like Checking Harddrive , Checking and Recoverying..

After it is done... just type "exit"
and your done..

you in order to do that.. you need to go into Recoever Console..

Yeah and if one had the XP CD they could copy directly from it. :>)
