I have also removed any reference to this program from the registry, but I still can't remove it from add and remove programs.Any ideas? the error I get is bellow

error loading c:\progra~1\common~1\install~1\profes~1\runtime\0701\intel32\ctor.dll

Go into the registry and drill down to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Look for the software title or software maker and delete that key when you're sure it's the right one.

Hi Tripps, I looked in the registry where you advised but the software maker/title is not there. I have done a complete search of the registry using the find facility under edit\find for the software/title but the result is nothing found.

Well reidy, that's where add remove programs stores it's information about what programs it has listed. So it's in there somewhere. If you tell me the name of the game I'll look around and see what I can find out for you.

Hi Tripps, you were right, it was exactly where you said it would be, but instead of it being located under the game or makers name it was located under this heading:-
 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{A98E5E03-E407-408E-A8D8-B9F088F21000}

At least I know now that items can be hidden under some very obscure headings!!

many thanks for your advice Tripps, the points are yours.
