Sun certified programmer for java 2 platform.
Hi, I would like to get this certification without doing the course purpose by sun, but only the exam.
Now here is the course schedule.
1-Fundamentals of the Java[tm] Programming Language
2-The Advanced Object-Oriented Programming
3-Java[tm] Programming Language
And I can view more detail on each course at Sun web site.
Is there anybody here who did is certification by self studying and only passed the exam? If yes I would like to know witch book, links or else to study and work in order to be prepared for the exam.
I know there is more than more information on Java developpment on the web. But what I need, is find something who would be very very close to all subject being study on thoses three course, so I could be able to do the exam.
btw, I am a 4gl (procedural) programmer for over 6 year’s.
Does my intention are possible.

Yes, i basically taught myself (i wasn't new to proramming at the time), studied and then did the exam. If you have no prior knowledge, don't be in a hurry to take it if this is not absolutely necessary.

Well I have certain knowledge in Java for having study them a bit like OO Programming Concepts, language Basics,
Object Basics and classes, inheritance, but then again, my knowledge is very very basic. Never actually really code alot with it.
Thanks for your reply. I will give a try with this book. Am aware that there is some test exam's on the net so after all this well before the real one, nothing is stoping me for trying one of them.

Save the questions on the book's CD until just before the exam. When i did them, i found them to be closer to the exam software than the net stuff.
