Setting up home network w/ Win2K
I recently installed Win2K on my computer and would like to set it up on my very simple home network. I had WinMe on this computer and had it on the network fine, however, the host of controls in Win2K is overwhelming and I am confused as to how to set it up.
I originally used the home networking wizard in WinMe to network the computer to a Win98 machine and now I would like to network Win2K with the Win98 machine. On the Win2k machine, I would open Network Neighborhood, click on Entire Network and then on Mshome and I would see the WinMe machine. When I try that now, I am unable to see the Win2K machine. Likewise on the Win2k machine, I cannot see the Win98 machine. Where do I adjust the settings for this?
I am using a simple hub and Zone Alarm for a firewall. Even with ZoneAlarm off, I am unable to see the other computer.

To access a computer over the network provided you know the computer name.
Click on START--->RUN---> Type \\computername
wait a few seconds and you should connect to the pc that you typed in.

Ok, I got to the point where I can fully access my Win98 machine from the Win2000 machine...however, when I try to access the Win2000 machine from the Win98 one, all I can access is the MyDocuments folder on the Win2000 machine. I cannot see the full C or D drives on the Win2000 machine, nor are either of my two printers listed when I try to add a network printer in the Win98 machine. How can I get full access to the Win2000 machine and how can I make the printers available to the Win98 machine?
To access an entire drive on another Win2K machine, you need to connect to the Administrative share. By default Win2K creates Administrative shares for each drive letter.
Example:
To access the "C Drive" of one machine from another, you would type: \\computername\c$ You would have to be logged in as a user in Win98 that is a local Admin on the 2000 machine.
To allow the Win98 machine to access printers on the 2000 machine, those printers need to be shared. On the Win2K machine click Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Printers.
Right click on the printer and select properties. Click on the Sharing Tab and Share the printer. Then access the share on Windows 2000 from the other machine right click on the printer and click Connect.
Hope this helps,
John

Corr-
Got it all done, except for one thing that is a little confusing about sharing the printers. You say:
"Then access the share on Windows 2000 from the other machine right click on the printer and click Connect."
Problem is, the printer doesn't appear on the Win98 machine. I've tried installing it as a network printer, but when I browse the network under install network printer, the printer connected to the Win2K machine is not visible at all on the 98 machine.

Is there any way to shorten that time and lessen my steps to get to see the computers on the network? Should I just create a shortcut?
And how do I setup to account to access the 2000 files from the 98 machine?
