XOR NFL Challenge Problem

I downloaded this classic game a few weeks ago and thus far have been unsuccessful in getting it to operate correctly.  I get through the team selection and coin toss phases fine, but then get an error saying "Can't Open c:pbp.nfl".  I have had this problem on 4 different computers and on both Windows 98 and Windows 2K.  It seems that no computer I can find knows how to open/read a file ending in ".nfl".  Any help out there?

does the file even exist?

I don't think it's anything to fdo with the computer being able to open .nfl files. The app is getting an error when it tries to open the file.

Yes, the file does exist.  I ran searches for it on my own c-drive (on which it has been downloaded) and on the diskettes I copied it to in order to try the game on other computers.  And when the computer I'm using finds the file, it does not know which program to use to open it.

Thats understandable. The game is responsible for opening the file.
Sounds like the game may have not been installed correctly.

you should ask this in the Gaming or Windows Topic areas to get the right help.

If you want, I can have a moderator delete this for you while you ask the question in the relevant topic area.

Your game is one of the best I've ever played. All *.nfl and *.ros are editable files using notepad. Your problem is that the config.nfl file is pointing the start command to your root c:\.  In windows explorer right click on config.nfl and open it with notepad.

Drive   Color   Delay   Special
c:\college  2       0       0

This is what you'll get.  I edited all my files and changed the nfl teams to college teams, thus the c:\college directory.  Just type in the path to where you have NFL Challenge installed and everything should work.
