I am running ALCH386.EXE for compressing image files with the paramaters -P -Q -_ .5i -X1.33x -D 300 300 -+ -o <inputfile> <outputfile>
The environment variable ALCHEMY has been set to x

This is being run on a Microsoft Transaction server having WindowsNT operating system.
The Virtual memory available on the server is 2309MB.The Size of the input file is less than 30KB.

You could also try an alternate protected mode server. I think Simtel.Net may have some lying around.
