Embedded HTML Not displaying in 4.5 and 5.0 of Lotus Notes

Hi,

I have a website which sends emails using the Windows CDO components. The emails are included an HTML Message body but when they are viewed by clients using Lotus Notes 4.5 and 5.0 they don't see anything in the body of the email.

Does Lotus Notes support viewing HTML email messages?

Thanks for your help

Notes R4 does not have native support for rendering HTML, so any HTML mails you send to R4 will be converted to Notes Rich Text format. This typically results in some loss of fidelity (such as [IMAGE] appearing where there would normally be an image embedded by the HTML <IMG> tag).

Lotus Notes R5 has native support for MIME messages, and, providing the incoming mail preferences are set appropriately, will receive and render HTML mails.

Even if conversion to Notes Rich Text is happening, for the most part, the Notes users should still see SOMETHING in the body of the mail, it should not be completely blank unless some kind of error occurred during transmission of the message or a virus-filtering or spam-filtering gateway decided to remove the body of the message before forwarding it to Lotus Notes. But these gateways usually leave some kind of audit trail, such as "such-and-such product detected hostile content in this email and deleted the body contents".

Hope this helps.
