data from DOS to vb

hello everybody,

i need a small information.anybody can help me out.i have run a shell command and running a exe file in DOS .could u plz tell me the code to get data from DOS environment to VB environment.its very important and urgent as the project is in the middle.

Hi Ram kishore,
are u running ur exe or a standard exe? if your exe then u can use executeprocess or shell and redirect the output to a text file and read the text file

Dhaest's comment is a great one.
If your DOS program is a full-fledged program like FoxPro2 and you are looking to do some sort of screen-scraping, FoxPro2 won't redirect it's output to a flat-file, so you're almost out of luck there.  However, you can always issue a sendkeys to copy and paste the screen content.

Alt+Space+E+K sets up the window for marking

Then you would send several (40) Right-Arrows and several Down-Arrow keystrokes to select the data

Then you would send an Enter key to copy the information to the clipboard.

Then you can use use the Clipboard object to get the data.
