How do you start a daemon automatically on reboot for MAC systems?

System Preferences>Login Items. Add whatever you like to the list. If its a command line app you can create a script via the terminal, then tell the Login Items control panel to launch the script.

for what OS? OSX, no clue.
OS9 and down, make an alias, drop it in the folder "Startup Items" in your System folder
