Can I use Dreamweaver to open an HTML file that was created using raw HTML - no authoring tool?  Can I open a file created in FrontPage or another tool, in Dreamweaver?  If so, would there be some things that wouldn't display right?

HTML is HTML -- Dreamweaver will open any valid HTML file. It will open any valid ASP file, any .js file -- basically, DW will open any TEXT file.

If the page was hand coded, it should be fine.

If it was done with FP, it will have some things that may not show up correctly IN DW, but even some DW effects don't work in DW. If you don't change the FP specific code, the page should still work correctly when you upload it to the SAME FP server you got it from. Uploading to ANOTHER FP server would be different, and most likely the FP specific features would NOT work.

Remember (and NOTE WELL) -- DW is NOT a browser, many things do NOT work AT ALL there, and it CANNOT be the only way you check your pages.
