How do I step into MFC Source Code?

hi,
my MFC application does not let me step into MFC Source Code and I really need to.
I'm using MFC in a shared DLL, and have _DEBUG in my preprocessor list.
what am I doing wrong?

I have an error when I create a CDialogBar instance.
I get an

Unhandled exception in MyApp.exe (MFC42UD.DLL 0xC0000005: Access Violation

but all I get in the stack is

MFC42UD! Ordinal3337
MFC42UD! Ordinal3191
and so on, back to the call from my code.

Shouldn't I be able to step through the MFC code??

thanks a lot

Are you sure it matches your VisualStudio ServicePack?

You will need to install the debug symbols for the MFC Unicode libraries as well. What you are missing is 'MFC42UD.pdb' and should actually reside in %SystemRoot%\system32. Either start the VisualStudio installer to add tehm or copy them from <CD>:\VC98\MFC\LIB

this file is already in my c:\winnt\system32 directory.

Hmm, also check the setting under Tools|Options|Directories to see whether the MFC\SRC dir is listed there...

the pdb files were out of date. I've copied the lastest ones from the dev studio cd and that fixed it
