A Join Problem

In CR8.5, when I join two tables from two different data sources, I encounter the following problems.

1)     We are unable to specify the type of join (In Report Expert-Link Options, Equal is checked. All SQL Join types are disabled).

2)     ‘Show SQL Query’ menu option (in Database Menu) is not enabled. This is enabled only when the selected tables are from same data source.

In Short, OUTER JOIN is not possible in the above case. But I need to edit the query to make the join outer. How can i do that? Please suggest me a solution.

I don't believe you can link tables from different datasources in CR.

Can you modify one or the other database?  Are they the same type of database?

If you have 2 Access databases yu can create a linked table in one to the table in the other.  You could then join the tables.

Don't know if that will work or not in your case.

Im using CRP 8.0.1. In this version i could join the tables from different data sources. Hope it should work in CRP 8.5 also.
ok lets first try this. u have a database. create two dsn's for the same database. and choose the tables which u have already joined in the database try to linmk them through CRP. if you r getting that,,, then You will know that, you can work with 2 data sources.
now while trying ur report make sure that ur join columns are of same data type. ( u might be knowing this but as a precaution im saying this)

It should give a link option either with column name Or by Key. Coz earlier i used this lot many times in 8.0.1. so it should also work with 8.5

DO you have smart-linking on by chance?

In CR7 it is in FILE --> OPTIONS
on the database tab.
