Domino Server: Failure to deliver mail - send is ok -Im totally stymied

I running domino 4.6 server on Windows 2000 Server.  The system will allow incoming mail to be delivered and sent to users email boxes, but it WILL NOT deliver outgoing mail.  If anyone can help me on this I would REALLY appreciate it.  Below is the error:

SMTPMTA: omsgcnv Message 05256CD4.00029021 converted for dude@domain.com; message is queued for transmission

Router: Message 00029021 transferred to SMTP.box for dude@domain.com

SMTPMTA: osesctl Received message notification

SMTPMTA: oseshlr0 Attempting SMTP session with [domain.com]

SMTPMTA: oseshlr0 Outbound SMTP connection to [domain.com] has been established.

SMTPMTA: oseshlr0 Active SMTP session with [domain.com]

SMTPMTA: oseshlr0 Outbound SMTP connection to [domain.com] has been closed.

SMTPMTA: osesctl Outbound [oseshlr0] SMTP session failed one or more messages.

sometimes it also gives me an error that it cannot convert header.

thanks in advance

Try establishing a Telnet session on Port 25, from the server's console, to the destination domain. For example:

telnet domain.com 25
helo company.com
mail from:<user@company.com>
rcpt to:<dude@domain.com>
Hello, this is a test message.

and see if you get any unusual error messages returned that might indicate what the cause of the problem might be.

This gave me some insight into the problem.  It was an issue with our domain registration.
thanks !
