Changing admin password Windows NT 4.0 Server

Hi all

I just started this position about a month ago and the boss wants me to change the admin password.  Im really new at this so please forgive my ignorance.  Is it just as simple as changing the password or are there other factors to be considered?

From my research so far you have to verify that no service is dependant on the current password, which I've already done.

Will the PDC require a reboot just to make sure everything is working ok?  Is it required to test?

Can the password be set back easily in case there are problems?

First - Make sure you have a 2nd ID that has Administrative access.  This way you won't lock yourself out.

2nd - You are correct - Make sure on th PDC/BDC and any ohter member servers that you do NOT have any service that requires the administrative password.

3rd - That's it - Change the password.  You do NOT have to reboot.  If you want to test it you can just logoff and back on again.

If for some reason you can not get back on use the secondary account you set up prior to starting.

I hope this helps.
