Problems installing NIS 2003

I hope someone here can help better than the Norton folks. I purchased NIS 2003 to upgrade from 2002. After receiving muliple errors and being told to constantly load and reload the software, the good folks at Norton told me to just install NIS2003 after uninstalling 2002. Ok, did that, now when trying to install NIS2003 the installation freezes at the point where it says it is installing LiveReg. So far Norton has not gotten back to me with any kind of solution, any ideas? Thanks.

I am running Windows XP home edition, computer has 640K ram, AMD Athlon 1.13G processor (in case thats important)

fedagent,

sounds like you really need to completely remove ALL instances of NIS from your machine.  Uninstall it entirely...but from there comb through your registry to make sure ALL instances of NIS are gone.

Use a registry cleaner tool such as regclean or something similar for NIS if you're not familir with REGEDIT.  After all details of NIS are removed from your registry, try installing NIS one last time.  If Norton can't help you, not sure any of us can.

I would also search Norton's site on the NIS removal tool called RNIS.EXE.  I believe this is their official "removal" tool for Norton Internet Security.

Thanks for the help... I have tried RNIS and did the registry thing..so.. I have requested a refund from Norton (and had it approved!) and have purchased McAfee's Internet Security program, hopefully I will have better luck with that! Thanks again!
