AGFA Snapscan 1200 and Windows XP

I have AGFA Snapscan 1200 and Windows XP.
The problem is - since AGFA don't support their scanners anymore and there's no driver for the system - the only solution I've found is to install an older system and use the drivers for it. That soulution is not very neat though and the usage would not be very comfortable.

Anyone has a better solution?

Not too many other choices besides buying a new scanner, or just running an older O/S.  I've had that happen countless times, there are many scanners that do not support Windows XP that were sold within the last couple years.

SpideyMod,
It seems there is no answer to this question.
I would like to have it deleted and get my points back.

Please.

Free Tool: ZipGrep

ZipGrep is a utility that can list and search zip (.war, .ear, .jar, etc) archives for text patterns, without the need to extract the archive's contents.

One of a set of tools we're offering as a way to say thank you for being a part of the community.

I will give this 72 hours to allow scott_beuk to respond.  The answer given does seem to show that scott_beuk has faced this problem a few times and was forced to purchase a new scanner or drop down to a previous Windows version. That would be a valid answer, but if scott_beuk doesn't desire to have the points or doesn't respond within the 72 hour window, you can have them back.  Sometimes knowing there isn't a better way is just as useful as finding a better way.  We often award points for answers of "you can't do that".  I hope you understand.  I will return after 72 hours to finalize.

That was my answer.  No one else has responded to this question, because there is no other solution.

That's not an answer for me. I wanted to know a better solution than mine, but if nobody can provide me with a better one then I don't see why I would have to give away my points.
I'm not greedy (poor in points I am though) - it's just that it doesn't help me at all.

Filip,
I understand your frustration.  However I do  believe it is a valid answer and therefore adds value to the database.  What I propose is the following:
1) accept scott_beuk's answer as it very well may be the only answer (scott_beuk didn't simply echo what you indicated you have done, also recommended upgrading the scanner, so that adds another dimension to the question)
2) After you have accepted the answer, I will put the 50 points back into your account for this question.  This is a one-time only solution as I do understand your circumstances.

I hope this helps to satisfy everybody.

Why is it so, that when I accepted scott_beuk's comment he (?) only got 5 points? Does it depend on the grade? And I've got some (15?) points back???

The 50 points have been added to your account.  Now about the points.  Actually  scott_beuk received far more than 50 expert points (not to be confused with question points as they are not interchangeable).   scott_beuk would have received 50 * 3 or 150 expert points.  see here for details: http://www.experts-exchange.com/jsp/cmtyHelpDesk.jsp#19

Now on to why the question now only shows 5 points. This is because once a question is answered and accepted, the points shift meaning.  They now become how many points it will require a non-member to view this question and it is always 1/10th the original value you assigned to the points.

Hope this helps.

I don't think the etiquitte was too badly infracted upon.  However, you should know that when you assign a grade of other than an A, a comment explaining the grade should be given.  No need to do that here as I think we are all clear on why you selected a B, just wanted to give you another etiquette tip.

I will be changing the grade to an A as well, as I think the answer is worthy of an A and since you got your points back for the question anyway, I think  scott_beuk should be given the benefit of the doubt that that's all that can be done.

Have a good day all.

Just for the record I want to say that I use the same scanner with the original disc I got with it, and it works fine under windows XP except of a few minor  problems(not always)in the installtion process.

Good luck.
