I am trying to develop an application in Notes that has a front-end form that is viewed on the Web, and the back-end is then emailed in Notes. I have the two forms and the web agent saves the data and then opens the emailed form with the data perfectly...here is my problem:

The Web front-end had Javascript that would toggle the display properties for several sections of questions based on a checkbox being checked. So, let's say if someone was signing up for a cell phone and pager...they would check those two options and only the questions relating to those two services would expand.

I was told that I need to change these boxes into Notes fields in order to pass the value of the checked boxes so that the back-end will display the same expanded sections. What would be the code to assign the value on the front-end? And how would I evaluate it on the back end to display those same divs on the back-end?

Thanks for your help. I am pretty new to the Notes environment and so I don't always see clearly.  ;o)

The same form can be mailed while saving the document, only thing is you have to enable store form in document (form property). So that the exact values as entered by user is mailed.

It has to be two forms because the end user wants the email form in a different format (I know the functionality is no different, it is all cosmetic and the user could care less about functionality they just want it to look the way they are used to it - but still want the Web form in its format).

But even at that...if you pass the data on the same form, I want to have only the sections that were checked to be expanded/visible. There is a top section with generic user information to be filled out, and then there are five checkboxes(each option has a set of questions in their own <div> that apply to only them). So, I need to assign a value and not just toggle display. That way when the back form opens, the correct checkboxes would be checked and those sections expanded.

Does that make sense?
Thanks again for the extra eyes!!!

So this Checkboxes are not notes fields then ?

In the web form, create the notes fields for checkbox as hidden. Then refer to that field value in the mail script.

They were originally written in javascript and sent as pass thru html.

So, you are saying make a hidden notes field. Leave the javascript checkboxes to do the expand collapse? But then how do I tie a value to the hidden fields based on the checkbox being checked?

Sorry to be a pest...just trying to make this work for the end user. Thanks for your insight.

No problem.

When you create Notes fields corresponding to HTML fields, during save domino will store the values in Notes fields. If The field data type is mismatched then you will get an error.

How do you make the html and Notes fields correspond? By name? Or is there something else that ties them together?

I guess I am not seeing it. If on the form I have a checkbox (html) called "ckCell"...how do I make a hidden field in Notes that is tied to the value of the html checkbox?

Yes ByName, Create a text field called ckCell and leave it (If you are expecting more than one value, then check multivalue option)

So, are you saying that I create the hidden Notes field on both forms? Or just the back-end form?

Again, sorry to be asking what are probably dumb questions. I am still trying to learn the Notes enviroment. I thank you so much for your help!!! :o)
