Color Problems
I just installed Windows 98 SE on a friends computer and everything works fine, except when I go into the display options and try to change the color settings the only options I am given are 2 color and 16 color mode. What do I have to do to get the 32bit color mode as an option? The computer previously had the same version of windows installed on it and had no problem with the 32bit mode.

One last...the installation instructions will be on the web site.
As StoneG says, to confirm it is a driver problem...Right click on MY COMPUTER, select PROPERTIES then DEVICE MANAGER, and then D-Click on your DISPLAY ADAPTER.
If it says 'standard VGA' (or whatever) then you know you havn't installed correct driver.

Thanks guys, you pointed me in the right direction. I didn't know what video card he had so I had to check the system registry and copy down the information then I found the correct driver online, which surprisingly wasn't on the manufacturer's website.
Glad to help!
If you don't have the drivers on a CD or floppy go to the manufacturer's web site & down load new ones. [always a good idea, anyway...stay current!]
