DISASTER!!!!!!!!! cannot login as a root user.... HELP HELP HELP

I upgraded my old glibc with the latest glibc-2.3.1 and installed it into /usr directory. Now I can no longer be able to login as any user. I think the login program cannot talk to the new glibc library....

Is there any way to recover my system, or at least allow me to gain access to my system to backup my files before reformating....

dont panic and dont do reboot .. if u really care about ur data then all can be recovered..
do u have other OS also on ur system ?
>>dont do reboot .
i meant reformat
u can boot from installer CDROM ..
and there are two ways after that .. go in rescue mode .. and install the older glibc .. with hand. and other is upgrade the system.. make sure u dont select any drives to be formatted
