Automatically Banning IP Addresses

I have a windows 2000 advanced server running sql server 2000.

I want to know if there is a way in which I can use ado and asp (and perhaps sql stored procedures) to automatically add ip's to the banned ip list in the internet services manager.

Code examples or hints would be a bonus!

Thanks

Hi!

It would take up too much room to show any code here.

But one very possible approach would be the following.
Make sure you are running the MS SQL Agent Service.

Now with DB connections and ASP.

You can do the following.
I don't know where the banned IPs are stored but if they are in registry you can create a .reg registry file with ASP.

Then use the DB to execute:regedit /s C:\whatever\blah\ban_ip.reg

Since DB is usually running as either local system account or an admin user so it has the right to run such a script.

If the banned IPs aren't stored in registry, it would be much harder to do.

I hope I gave you some ideas.
