How do I setup my Soundblaster live 5 Plat with Red Hat

Hello

Jermz again I'm try to setup my soundblaster live to four speakers and a sub-woofer. How do I get surround sound with Red Hat 8.0, also I have a mini disc player connected as well but it replace my sound card, how do I set that back to my soundblaster. Please help me

Ok, I'm assuming you have got the card actually working? The correct module (EMU10k1) is either installed or compiled into the kernel etc? Users added to the audio group and what not?

The next step is to go here http://sourceforge.net/projects/emu10k1 and download the emu-tools and install that and edit the emu10k1.conf file appropriatly, the documentation is pretty self explanatory then run the emu-script and bamo it should support surround sound.

You'll have to configure the apps seperatly (xine etc) that you wish to use the surround side with, but this is usually just a tick box in the settings.
