Page not found, loads after clicking refresh

1) When I restart the web server, some how the default page (index.htm) doesn't load, it sends an error message saying that page cannot be found. However, when click refresh on the page, it loads just fine. Is there a fix for this problem? Am I doing something wrong or is it common in Win2k Advanced Server?

2) Sometimes all the asp pages on the website just don't work, but when I restart the server everything works normal, is it also a common problem?

Help please......

Well, there's an awful lot of information that you haven't provided us that would be necessary to offer you even a tentative diagnosis.

Here's a wild stab in the dark, probably incorrect:

ASP requests taking too long to return, IIS timeout is expiring and generating the error you see. Over time, ASP is completely hanging. Rather than a reboot next time try using the IISRESET command at the console. If that does't bring ASP back up, then restart your SQL server and IISRESET again.

If you want some real live troubleshooting and diagnostics from the community here, I strongly recomend that you provide some more information.
