I have a web application that might be needing a barcode scanner. Does anyone know if this is possible?

This is very easy to do.  I have done it many times.

Just configure the bar code scanner to read Bar39 and append a line feed/carriage return after the input data.

Most scanners simply emulate keyboard strokes.

So the only thing you should really have to do to the program is put code in the keypress or keyup events of the controls that detects the enter key:

if KeyAscii=chr(13) then
'do whatever
end if

Remember, this is in a web page running on a browser... NOT a windows form...

No need to get snippy...

Again.. YES, it is possible... I assume you are running an ASP or HTML page?

Try placing a simple form in your page with nothing but a textbox and a button.

Run the page

Type something in the textbox

Hit the enter key

Did hitting the enter key cause the button to be pressed?
(the answer should be yes)
Most bar39 scanners are already configured to emulate this activity (sending keystokes with an enter at the end)

If your test did not result in the button being pressed, or if this test does not properly emulate what you are trying to do, then you will need to provide more information on what you are trying to do.

I got it! I got it! Someone demoed me last night and right of the box, the scanner worked into putting values in a textbox... I've worked with barcodes long long time ago and during those times, you still need to create a program to make it run, but now no more... thanks anyway!!!!! I guess I should give you the 100 points for the effort :)
