Hi,
I tried with "fame" option but it stops with run time error as follows.

 When i run [root@suriya fame]# fame video.mpg
the error is "open() : Is a directory.
video: Could not open video4linux device".

But i installed "bttv" driver for my TV tuner card(Plat Tv Pro) wich supports video4linux.

since i have not having cable connection, I used the "Digital Camera" output as a "composite" input to the TV Tuner card.

Help me to solve the above problem

Try:

fame -d /dev/video0 filename

where /dev/video is the device path to your bttv device.

Hi dorward,

I used the following command as per your suggesstion.

 fame -d /dev/video0 video.mpg

The recording is stopped when i press CNTRL+c. When I execute the "video.mpg" file the recorded picture is not clear and synchronised.

Since I am not having TV cable connection, I fed Digital Camera composite output to Tv Tuner Card video input. Is this a problem? Is FAME is build only for Tv input? Will it not work for for SVHS and Composite input? How can we set the input stream format(i.e., PAL,NTSC & SECAM)?

How can we stop recording permanantly? How can we set recording for a particular period of time?

Help me to solve the above problem.

Hi,
I had been waiting for reply from any of the experts for the past one month. But i have got no replies. But somehow i managed to capture the video stream using "FAME" stream with composite input. Since I am not having TV input, I used the output of the digital handycam as input to the TV Tuner card. Now the captured video stream is in Black & White without the original colour. How to capture the video stream using "FAME" utility with colour.

I used the following command line option.

 fame -d /dev/video0 video.mpg.

Please help me to solve the aforesaid problem.

suriyamohan's solution is:

I had decided to use "XawTv" or "KwinTV" instead of FAME.

I don't object to this question being closed, but I do object to being told I have 72 hours before a question will be finalized, and then seeing the question finalize after less then 6.
