Receiving Error 1276 when trying to restart Information Store services
After restoring my IS from an online backup I have been unable to start the IS service. I am getting a service-specific error 1276 message and an error logged in the event log with event ID 7024. I have gone through everything I can think of to try to remedy this problem and I continue to get the same message. I researched the issue through Microsofts knowledge base and found article 231439 that addresses this problem, but none of the issues listed as causes or fixes seems to help my situation. I have gone through each step listed in the article, checked the org. name, site name, and computer name and everything between the two machines is identical. I am stumped. One line in the article says Error 1276 (0x4fc) refers to ecDomainError. I have not been able to find any explanation of this. Any help with this situation would be much appreciated.
When you restored, did you remove all other files from the mdbdata folders, on all partitions? Leftover files can cause this problem too.

When I came in this morning and started to work on the project again I had someone come in and review what I had been looking at for the last couple of days to make sure there were no discrepancies between the two machines. There was a period in one org name that did not exist in the other and that was causing the IS service to not run. I just resinstalled Exchange and changed the org name. I just finished repopulating the directory and everything is running well.
There was also a communication issue with the PDC that was resolved this morning.
Sometimes walking away from a situation temporarily or getting a "fresh pair of eyes" to look at things seems to help more than the greatest efforts I could put forth. I appreciate your willingness to help with this situation and I apologize for any inconvenience.

My apologies for not following up on this question. Since someone here in my office actually found the problem, I was not sure how to handle it from that point and forgot to follow up with someone about it. Please feel free to handle it however you see fit.
