hey...i didnt know which catagory to put this in but anyways!.....
Im making a webpage and i have footage recorded from my digital camera that i want put on there....
my problem is.....i have a connector and everything to hook the camera up to the computer but when i hook it up.....the computer doesnt recognize that theres footage on the tape.  all i can do is record video's while the camera is hooked up to the computer.........how the fudge do i get it to recognize theres footage on the camera?

What software are you using for starters. Also, what make of camcorder is it? Do you know what file format the raw data is stored as I.E *.AVI etc

well I've gott digital cam too and I know exactly what you mean.........what you need is CAPTURE software.....the 'standard' windoze stuff dont do this.....

In my case i'm running pinnacle studio8 software which allows awsome video editing and capture functions you'll probably need something similar

Yep, we use pinnacle also and it is very good an easy to use.

Go to the tools section of http://www.dvdrhelp.com/ and go to the tools section for some of the best software for capture and manipulation of dv.  Some i recommend are DVIO for capture (firewire) virtual dub and most of all TMPGEnc for encoding. This place is the really has the most info and tutorials around for what you want
